Purpose: Provide business and legal research experience and skills that focus Employee Benefits related matters. Support the ERISA and related practice areas while also participating in part of an overall NY research team that includes the library reference staff and information specialists in other practices.
Information Specialists, under the direction of the Director of Research Services, share information, advice and mentoring with and to the practice attorneys, Research Services and Knowledge Management teams in order to facilitate research, provide expertise to others and provide guidance on new KM initiatives from a user’s perspective.
Responsibilities: · Execute complex business and legal research for requests that are often confidential and time sensitive in nature to the ERISA practice group.

Information Specialists, under the direction of the Director of Research Services, share information, advice and mentoring with and to the practice attorneys, Research Services and Knowledge Management teams in order to facilitate research, provide expertise to others and provide guidance on new KM initiatives from a user’s perspective.
Responsibilities: · Execute complex business and legal research for requests that are often confidential and time sensitive in nature to the ERISA practice group.
· Provide
guidance and training on specific resources, both electronic and print
to both attorneys and research services members.
· Assist
with preparing articles, presentations and luncheon materials.
· Locate
documents and assembling compilations of publicly available disclosure
by corporations for projects and due diligence purposes.
· Organize
luncheons.
· Monitor
Federal agencies and regulatory bodies for executive compensation, pension
reforms and legislation as well as current publications both online and
in print and apprise attorneys of developments in the field on a regular
basis.
· Provide
coverage for other information specialists and the library when required
and feasible and collaborate on projects or research.
· Assist
with maintaining practice files (which will include data gathering, data
entry, indexing and filing) including firm resources such as subject databases,
document systems, and wikis.
· Assist
KM with product testing and assist with the successful utilization of firm
resources such as CGSearch, CoMMand, KDL and wikis.
· General
administrative duties
Requirements:
· Broad
knowledge of standard secondary research resources. Resources include but
not limited to Bloomberg, IntelliConnect, KnowledgeMosaic, Lexis, Westlaw,
and RIA Checkpoint, as well as other Legislative and Securities & Exchange
Commission and EDGAR filing resources.
· Ability
to apply source knowledge to research projects that produce complete, cost
effective results.
· Communication
skills required to confidently deliver and explain research findings to
attorneys both verbally and through written summaries and analysis.
· Capable
of working independently with minimal supervision and equally well as part
of a team.
· 4
year college degree, excellent academic credentials, excellent research
and writing skills.
· Master's
Degree in Library/Information Science and related law firm or corporate
experience preferred.
