P/T - Afternoon & Eve Lib, ASA College (NY)

Part Time Afternoon and Evening Librarian

ASA College, a New York City-based, regionally-accredited, two-year degree-granting institution, has an opening for a part-time librarian based primarily at our Brooklyn MetroTech location, Monday-Friday, 2-9pm. Occasional hours may also be needed at our Herald Square campus in Manhattan. Combined hours will not exceed 35 per week. The successful candidate will be an energetic, flexible and creative self-starter able to work efficiently both alone and as part of the ASA Library team.

The position is responsible for all ASA library services, including customer service interaction, reserve and circulation transactions, organization of the library, supervision of student workers, collection development and maintenance of existing physical and electronic collections.

Reference and research assistance services include both face-to-face and virtual reference, planning and conducting library tutorials and information literacy instruction sessions, creation and maintenance of Library LibGuides and other duties as assigned. Multilingual candidates will be given special consideration.

This position is supervised by the head librarians of the ASA campuses and reports to the Director of Libraries.
An MLS, MLIS or MSLIS degree from an ALA-accredited institution is required. Previous academic library experience is preferred by not essential.

Founded in 1985, ASA College is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).
