Data Curator, NYU CUSP – NY

 


The Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) at New York University seeks a Data Curator, an information specialist who will work with researchers in developmental science to acquire and organize data from city records, phone tracking, subway traffic, buildings and imagery in New York City.


Qualifications/Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: statistics, sociology, political science, economics, library science or another field where knowledge of quantitative methods and tolls is indicated

Preferred Education: Master of Library Science

Required Experience: 3-5 years experience in a related field, such as developmental science, metadata schema design and management, taxonomy management, or equivalent education and experience; Demonstrated experience in consulting with faculty regarding technology or metadata options/requirements;

Preferred Experience: Familiarity with video data and/or sensor data.

Familiarity with data management technologies such as XML, SQL, UNIX filesystems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.):

Working knowledge of data management, including metadata, data retrieval and research data use, format migration, preservation; Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.):

Familiarity with current efforts in annotation standards.
