Web Services Librarian – part time
Working with the Assistant Director for Library
Informatics and Systems Administrator (and in collaboration with other
Library staff), the Web Services Librarian would develop and implement
technologies to enhance the Library’s website and increase the Library’s
web presence, including:
- Development, maintenance and integration of the disparate elements that comprise the library’s web site: III Web OPAC, SerialsSolutions (ArticleLinker), LibGuides, ILLiad, EZproxy
- Navigation tools
- Site interactivity
- Mobile website and/or app
- Interactive tutorials
- Expand the Library’s social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, etc.)
- Emerging technologies
- Web standards and styles (in accordance with University policy)
- Usability studies
- Analysis of usage statistics
- Recommend site enhancements, new tools and technologies
- Interact with students and faculty to provide information services
- Other special projects as assigned
Qualifications & skills
Required
- ALA accredited master’s degree in library or information science
- Experience in web design
- Programming skills: HTML, CSS, XML, LAMP, JavaScript
- Writing skills, especially writing effectively for the Web
- Ability to work in a creative manner and to look for alternate solutions to problems
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
Desired
- Experience with graphic design
- Programming skills: Perl, JQuery, Ruby, ASP, MVC Framework
- Experience with digital media
