Our client, a prestigious, international law firm
is seeking an experienced technical services librarian for the New York
office. In this role, the successful
candidate will coordinate and manage the technical services operations within
the Library and Research Services Department.
They will participate in the hiring, training and evaluating of the
technical services staff. He/she will
keep abreast of developments and technologies in computer systems and online
services, which may affect the law library.

Duties include:

Responsible for the maintenance of the ILS
(Acquisitions, Circulation, Cataloging, Serials, etc.) and responsible for any
upgrades or problems with the Integrated System
·
Troubleshoots hardware/software problems as soon as
they occur in an effort to rectify the same for the library staff or the
patrons
·
Provides technical support to the library
department in the use of the systems used and applications software
·
Establishes library automated information systems
and internet access to the Library’s Online catalog
·
Responsible for training and continual training of
the Web-based Online Library catalog and Library Checkout System
·
Responsible for the creation of any instructional
documentation for the usage of library-supported online systems for the library
staff or patrons and keeping this information up to date
·
Work with key staff to plan improvements in library
information systems and services
·
Install desktop computers, other hardware and
software and ensures their current effective operation
Qualifications:
·
MLS from an ALA
accredited University plus 3- 5 years of technical services experience
·
Prior supervisory experience
·
Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in library
automation technology
·
Solid project management and planning skills
·
Experience with ILS management systems, along with
knowledge of cataloging and extensive computer experience in various library
systems and online products
