Librarian/Archivist Position - Historic Hudson Valley, Tarrytown, NY
Forward-looking, systems-savvy, hands-on librarian/archivist sought for
new, full-time position: Manager of Library and Archival Services.
Reporting to the Curator, the person will be responsible for the
organization’s book, historical document, and corporate record resources;
related project management and implementation; and external and internal
reference services oversight.
Key Position Responsibilities:
• developing and implementing long-term plans for the museum’s library
and archives
• helping implement move of library and archives to newly constructed
headquarters building
• creating database and other finding aids
• organizing HHV corporate and project documents and vital records
• cataloging books and processing archival collections
• managing projects and assisting grantswriter in seeking project funds
for the library
• recruiting and motivating a cadre of volunteers to work on specific
projects
• aiding research related to HHV historic sites and Hudson Valley history
and material culture that leads to publications, digital content,
and/or public programming for the museum.
Qualifications:
• MLS or related degree; at least five years of archives and/or
library management experience
• Mastery of archives and library standards, procedures, and access
systems
• Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects and to supervise
staff and volunteers
• Historical research skills helpful; experience with TMS preferred.
Personal vehicle required for reimbursed local travel.
Compensation: Annual salary and benefits competitive.
