Senior Research Analyst, NY Law Institute (NY)

Senior Research Analyst/ New York Law Institute


The New York Law Institute is looking for an enthusiastic Senior Research Analyst to work as a vital member of our team. The Senior Research Analyst provides research and reference services, contributes to the development of the collection, and assists with outreach efforts. This is a hybrid position, with two to three days each week split between onsite and remote. Located in Manhattan’s financial district, the NYLI is a membership law library, serving the legal community continuously since 1828. NYLI is proud of its historic New York City roots and modern-day nationwide membership. We are undertaking major initiatives to partner and support our members with their just in time information needs using cost-sharing access to resources.
 

Key Responsibilities

  
⦁    Provide legal and non-legal reference and in-depth research services using NYLI’s significant collection of historic and current resources and external resources as needed. 

 
⦁    Contribute to initiatives to improve the delivery of research services and resources and to develop member-centric products and services.


⦁    Participate in the development of member onboarding, training, and outreach programs through webinars, creating and curating content for the blog and research guides, firm visits, participation in professional association events, and other activities.


⦁    Develop and document workflows, policies, and procedures for research and related activities. 


⦁    Maintain the data necessary to track reference requests, create records, and build the NYLI Knowledge Base in an automated reference tracking system. 


⦁    Assist with collection development by evaluating and selecting digital and print resources.


⦁    Collaborate with other staff members to provide quality control for all document delivery and interlibrary loan assignments.


⦁    Stay current with new resources, search strategies, and technology in the legal research space.


Qualifications: 

 
⦁    Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth legal and non-legal reference and research services using digital and print resources.

 
⦁    MLIS or equivalent from an ALA accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


⦁    5-7 years law library experience.


⦁    Extensive knowledge of legal and business research materials, including but not limited to Lexis, Westlaw, Practical Law, VitalLaw, Hein Online, ProQuest Congressional, WorldCat, OverDrive, etc.


⦁    Experience with request management systems and other library management software, such as RefTracker. 


⦁    Knowledge of integrated library systems, such as EOS.


⦁    Proficiency with general office applications, including Microsoft Office.


⦁    Superior written and verbal communication skills.


⦁    Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a remote setting.
