Adult Programming, Publicity and Outreach Department Head
The Great Neck Library is seeking an energetic individual to provide creative leadership for the development, supervision, planning, promoting and implementation of a wide variety of library programs that enhance the community’s connection to the library.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
⦁ Demonstrated ability to think creatively, work collaboratively; set priorities and meet deadlines
⦁ Experience establishing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
⦁ Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time in order to meet deadlines
⦁ Excellent verbal, written and proofreading skills
⦁ Superior public speaking and presentation skills
⦁ Proficiency with website development and management tools and editing software
⦁ Proficiency with electronic content management systems and social media channels
⦁ Demonstrated respect, sensitivity, and knowledge of cultural differences
⦁ Supervision of the programming and publicity department staff
⦁ Arrange for and curate art shows in meeting spaces and display cases
⦁ Responsible for vendor relationships, contracts and agreements
⦁ Manage purchase, payments and financial reporting requirements
⦁ Cultivation of partnerships with local businesses and community groups
⦁ Function as person-in-charge of the library on scheduled nights and weekends
⦁ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Experience Required:
⦁ Masters degree from an accredited academic university is required
⦁ Prior programming experience necessary in library or non-profit organization preferred
Schedule:
Full time – 35 hours/week, includes one night plus Saturday rotation.
Sundays as needed. Additional evening and weekend participation may be required.
Starting Salary Range:
The minimum starting salary is $66,600+, with full benefit package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a Union Position.
