F/T - Sr. Specialist - Archives, AIG (NY)

Senior Specialist, Archives; American International Group (AIG) – NY

The AIG Archivist assesses, collects, preserves, manages, and provides access to information and materials determined to have long-term value to AIG. He/she also provides research services for internal clients. The Archivist is a subject matter expert on AIG collections, especially hard copy and digital corporate records. He/she is a promoter of AIG’s heritage and seeks to strategically utilize the company’s archival and historical assets. The Archivist manages the Archives database and related content. 

Essential Functions:

•Captures/maintains relevant company information for long-term preservation
•Appraises, arranges and describes historical hard copy and digital records of AIG and subsidiaries
•Prepares descriptive access tools to archival records
•Provides reference and research services
•Maintains Archives database, oversees content and acts as liaison with relevant vendors


Required Education and Experience:

•Masters degree in History, Library Science, Information Studies or related field
•Minimum three (3) years working with archival records in a corporate or institutional setting
•Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
•Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
•Excellent organizational skills, flexible and detail oriented
•Excellent communication and customer service skills
•Proven cataloguing skills and database management
•Proven computer/software skills especially Microsoft and Adobe products
•Ability to lift 40 lbs

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
•Certified Archivist (or willingness to obtain certification)
•Knowledge of InMagic DB/Textworks
