Job Opening: Part- Time Librarian
Overview
The Wyandanch Public Library seeking an enthusiastic, Creative, Friendly and flexible librarian to join
our Team. The schedule for this position will be up to 20 hours per week. Under the supervision of the
Librarian III, the Librarian works as part of the WPL team and performs basic library work with a strong
concentration in Adult, Young Adult and Children’s Services. (Ages birth - 12 ). This position requires
professional knowledge of multiple areas of adult, young adult and children's services, high self
motivation, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to provide outstanding customer service for patrons
in-person and over the phone, ability to work collaboratively, and the passion for working in diverse
communities.
Responsibilities.
● Plans, conducts, schedules, and evaluates age-appropriate programs
● Maintains the attractive appearance of adult, young adult and children's departments
● Periodically provides reference services to all age groups
● Collection development; reference and reader’s advisory and Other duties as
assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
● General experience working with the public in diverse communities
● Knowledge of literature and programming
● Bilingual skills highly desirable
● ALA accredited MLS and possession of a valid New York State Public Librarian Certificate.
Salary
● Range $24-27 depending on experience
