Position Summary/Overview: 

Conducts high-level research and provides reference services for attorneys and clients.  The Research Services Librarian is responsible for educating the legal and administrative staff in the use of research sources.   This position will contribute to collection development by identifying and evaluating resources. Supports the Firm’s knowledge management activities, innovation initiatives and special projects.
 
Essential Job Requirements:

•              Provides timely, accurate and cost effective high level research and analysis to attorneys, paralegals, clients and staff.
•              Analyzes, summarizes, and customizes results in order to meet the specific requirements of the requestor.
•              Provides training and one-on-one sessions on research services and electronic resources to legal and non-legal staff as needed.
•              Supports news, docket tracking and alerting activities of attorneys.
•              Develops strong working relationships with outside libraries, vendors and associations to ensure prompt and cost effective service.
•              Proactively selects, evaluates and recommends new print material and online databases to support the firm’s growing practice areas. 
•              Contributes to the knowledge initiatives of the firm, including the creation of practice area pages and research guides.
•              Participates in continuing legal education activities and further professional development in the research and knowledge management field.
•              Tracks research and reference time for client billing purposes.
•              Participates in projects and related duties as required.
 
 
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

•              M.L.S. with 2-3 years relevant legal research experience.
•              Demonstrated knowledge of legal and non-legal research resources in all formats.
•              Expert in searching online research databases and in the use of spreadsheets, word processing and web publishing tools to aid in the appropriate packaging of information to meet specific research and knowledge needs.
•              Knowledge of SharePoint 2010 a plus.
•              Ability to manage multiple tasks in a team orientated, collaborative, fast-paced environment.
•              Works well under pressure, meets tight deadlines, shows attention to detail, committed to customer service.
•              Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills in order to work with a diverse group of legal and non-legal professionals.

Schedule:   9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
