Digital Services Librarian
Metropolitan
College of New York (MCNY), a non-profit, regionally accredited college
offering associate, bachelor's and master's degrees, and located in
Manhattan and in the Bronx, seeks
a Digital Services Librarian (DSL). The Librarian will be primarily
responsible for maintaining, developing, expanding, promoting and
assessing the digital face of the MCNY Library.
The DSL will also be responsible for providing face
to face and virtual reference services; conducting information literacy
sessions; assisting with collection development and acquisitions;
developing and maintaining online learning modules; and representing the
library on college and university committees
related to technology. Additionally, the Digital Services
Librarian will serve as a primary point person for the library at MCNY’s
Bronx Extension Center (BEC). At the BEC, the Librarian will provide
Reference and Instruction services and will be responsible
for helping to develop programing and the library’s print collection.
Required
qualifications include ALA accredited Master’s degree in
Library/Information Science with 5 or more years of experience in an
Academic Library; ability to work well in teams; demonstrated
experience in addressing usability issues and implementing
user-centered design in libraries. The DSL must demonstrate knowledge
of and experience with current and emerging web development technologies
as they relate to digital library services, be proficient
with Microsoft Office, and have familiarity with HTML, CSS, and
databases. Must have experience providing Information Literacy
Instruction and Reference Services. Must be willing to work evening and
weekend hours. Preferred qualifications include experience
in higher education experience; experience with OCLC’s Worldshare
Management Services; content management systems, e.g., LibGuides,
Drupal, Moodle; third-party discovery layers such as Summon, Primo, or
EBSCO Discovery Service; integrated library systems,
e.g., Sirsi, Koha, Innovative; virtual instruction software such as
Captivate, Jing, Camtasia, LibWizard; scripting languages such as
Javascript or PHP.
