Archivist/Special Collection Librarian, Westbury Memorial Public Library, Westbury, NY

Part-Time, Up to 16 hours per week at $30 per hour


The Archivist/Special Collection librarian is responsible for the evaluation, preservation and maintenance of the Westbury Children’s Library’s historical collection which includes rare and antique books, toys, art and documents relating to the original operations and founding of the Library. Primary duties include catalog creation/maintenance, organization and storage, exhibition design, and research assistance. Specific job requirements include:


 Create and maintain a collection catalog and organizational system
 Assist in setting and administering policy guidelines for public access to the collection
 Preserve and maintain antique books and materials
 Select the theme and design of exhibitions
 Advocate for the needs of the collection
 General enthusiasm for the materials and subject matter

Job Information Resource Librarian

Brooklyn Public Library is seeking a Job Information Resource Librarian to work as part of the New York City Connected Communities (NYC-CC) team to provide quality public service in four of the eight neighborhood libraries comprising the NYC-CC Program Locations (Brownsville, Bushwick, DeKalb, Macon, Marcy, Saratoga, Stone Avenue, Washington Irving). The successful candidate for this position will perform library work concentrating on job information / workforce development services and programs for adults and teens. He/she will collaborate with colleagues to identify community needs and develop programs and services accordingly.


Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide personalized one-on-one career, job, and education information sessions to library users at four different locations, including but not limited to the following services: review and edit resumes and cover letters; discuss interview preparation techniques and conduct mock interviews.
  • Provide resume/job help assistance using laptops and online resources
  • Develop and conduct job readiness workshops at four target branches.
  • Participate in outreach and community events; hosts class and group visits.
  • Identify community partners and build relationships with local businesses, workforce development agencies, and community based organizations.
  • Work one on one with patrons to access e-government services and benefits.
  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate a variety of job-related programs.
  • Work with NYC-CC team to meet project goals; helps to provide data for reports
  • Coordinate promotion of job readiness workshops with branch, NYC-CC program staff and Business & Career Library staff.
  • Work reference desks and other branch assignments as necessary.
  • Establish programming and services calendars with branch and NYC-CC staff.
  • Support BPL’s online training platform, Metrix Learning System, by hosting Information Sessions and open computer labs.
  • Expand knowledge of local, print and online resources; help develop systems for disseminating information
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school; Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate issued by the State of New York, required 
  • Candidates must be flexible, able to handle multiple competing priorities and tasks, adaptable tochange, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent communications and customer service skills
  • Strong presentation and programming skills

Responsibilities & Requirements: Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Collections Strategy and Management, the Director of Collections and Resource Management provides leadership, guidance and expertise to the Department. The Director of Collections and Resource Management will be expected to conduct research and scholarship, and participate in faculty governance, committee works and continuing professional development consistent with University standards for promotion and tenure. As a faculty librarian, the successful incumbent will take an active role in liaison, reference and instruction duties. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  *  Advise Associate Dean for Collections Strategy and Management in the articulation of user-centered, holistic collections vision to meet current and emerging information needs and new models of collection/content building and delivery.

The New York University Division of Libraries is seeking a librarian to serve as liaison to the faculty, graduate students, and administrators in the NYU School of Professional Studies.  Librarians play a key role in the educational mission of NYU by establishing strong relationships with faculty and students, and connecting them to the services, content, and tools that meet their research, teaching, and learning needs.

The NYU School of Professional Studies offers master's degree programs and graduate certificates in a wide range of professionally oriented areas of study.  The School’s graduate programs reflect the emerging trends, opportunities and innovative business strategies in each respective field that they represent, and include programs in the Schack Institute of Real Estate and the Center for Global Affairs.  Graduate students at the School of Professional Studies include full-time and part-time students, working professionals, and individuals returning to the academic world after pursuing other pathways.  Classes are held in the Washington Square area, the Woolworth Building, the Midtown Graduate Center, days and evenings, and online.  School of Professional Studies graduate programs are served by the NYU Bobst and Brause Libraries.



Responsibilities:

 

Working in a collaborative environment this tenure-track position is responsible for building a program of extensive instructional, consultation, and research support services; developing responsive and innovative information services; and extensive outreach to faculty and administrators in the School of Professional Studies.  The School of Professional Studies Graduate Librarian will create and deliver outreach methods to students (such as consultation hours, social networking forums, and in-library/online services development); develop information literacy and research proficiencies programming; and engage students and faculty as active users of NYU Libraries services and collections. 

 

This position is a member of the business team and reports to the Head of Business and Government Information Services in the Public Services Division of NYU Libraries.    The position is engaged in and contributes to the highly collaborative work of the department and the NYU Libraries.  The School of Professional Studies Graduate Librarian works with colleagues at the Bobst and Brause Libraries to implement and enhance programs and services, deliver physical and virtual research and reference services, and take a leadership role on projects and initiatives as appropriate. 

Librarians at NYU participate in library-wide committees; professional activities outside of NYU; and monitor developments and best practices elsewhere to help ensure the excellence of the NYU collection and research support services.

Qualifications:


Required: ALA accredited MLS and subject Master’s degree required for tenure. Experience in library instruction, reference, and outreach in an academic setting.  Candidates should exhibit a strong public service orientation, a high degree of facility with technologies germane to the 21st century library and today’s learners. 

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated business experience in an academic library environment; or an advanced degree in business, real estate, economics or related discipline.

Professional contributions beyond the primary job, such as publications, leadership in professional organizations, and other research and creative activity, are required for tenure.

The Bronx Community College Library seeks to hire two or more adjunct Reference and Instruction Librarians for part-time work during the Fall 2016 semester. The selected candidate(s) will perform general reference duties, chat reference, teach basic information literacy instruction sessions work, and other duties as assigned. Instruction is conducted at the request of the instructor; hence, no established times are available. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Adjunct Assistant Professor:
Master's in Library Science (MLS), Master's in Library Information Studies (MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution and a second graduate degree required.

For Adjunct Lecturer:

Responsibilities & Requirements: The Head of the Health Sciences Library reports directly to the Dean of University Libraries. He/she is responsible for communicating a strong vision for the Health Sciences Library in a digital age. The successful incumbent will be responsible for collaborating with Associate Library Directors in formulating policies for the library's resources, programs and services; advancing new and innovating technologies in the provision of information in the education, research and clinical enterprises in the health sciences; and providing leadership and well-reasoned future directions for the library. The selected candidate will be responsible for daily operations of faculty librarians, as well as provide in-depth, specialized research and consultation services in person, by telephone or electronically for all users of Health Sciences Library resources. The selected candidate will provide reference and instruction in evidence based practice to make optimal use of library resources. The Head serves as a strong advocate for the library with a variety of on and off campus constituencies. The Health Sciences Library serves the academic needs of the Schools of Dental Medicine, Health Technology and Management, medicine, Nursing and Social Welfare, Graduate Programs in Public Health, and the University Medical Center.

TITLE: User Engagement and Assessment Librarian, (Non-Tenure Track Librarian of Practice IV)

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Rutgers University Libraries, John Cotton Dana Library seeks an innovative, creative and service oriented librarian with a background in assessment or research methods. The User Engagement and Assessment Librarian position is the first of its kind in the Library and will be responsible for envisioning, developing and implementing a systematic assessment program for the library. This individual is capable of designing and implementing data collection methods and subsequently analyzing, synthesizing and articulating the results to enable us to transform our services to effect outstanding library experiences for our user community.

The User Engagement and Assessment Librarian will:

        design and engage in assessment activities to further understand what kind of library collections, services, and resources to support the faculty and students need and their preference for service delivery, 
  • combine assessment results and knowledge of library trends to engage internal and external colleagues to develop innovative ideas and approaches that are consistent across all library service points, non-public operations and out into the community using evidence-based decision-making,
  • identify elements that can be integrated in our services to address student recruitment, retention, progression and graduation rates and develop methods to measure and assess library impact in these areas,
  • participate in providing instruction, research assistance and information services in person, by appointment, and virtually via email and chat, and
  • work closely with the Dana Library Director to develop strategic resources, facilities, and services necessary to support the instruction and research endeavors of the Rutgers University - Newark user community.
This full-time non-tenure track position reports to the Director of Dana Library and is a member of the Dana Library Faculty, a team of librarians committed to providing exceptional library services to a diverse population of faculty, students and community users.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Library or Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited institution. Experience with a variety of data collection and analysis tools, including user satisfaction surveys, focus groups, ethnographic studies, as well as, SPSS, NVivo and Atlas.ti. Demonstrated experience to serve the research and information needs of a diverse user community in an academic library setting. The successful candidate will exhibit excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff. Proven public service orientation and successful experience working with inter- and intra- campus teams in a higher education environment. Ability to work a schedule that may include evening and weekend hours. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S.

THE POSITION:

 

The Research and Instruction Librarian will support student learning by developing and delivering innovative library instruction programs; by providing research education services, both in-person and virtually, by incorporating appropriate technologies; and by envisioning and executing digital projects, including subject guides, to facilitate instruction, learning, and research. 


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
 

Experience and Educational Background:
