Temp - Technical Librarian -

Technical Librarian
Location: Queens, NY.
Duration: 6 months +


Must have hands on document management experience.
(specifically Livelink, a product from Open Text)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A master’s degree in library science (MLS) Minimum of 3 to 4 years IT experience preferred Demonstrated ability to apply emerging technological solutions to meet user needs



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BA or BS degree in a science, engineering, or information management discipline Broad understanding of acquisitions and/or cataloging best practices and activities.

Organize materials into the various subject matters and provide descriptions of the materials so that it can be easily located.

Knowledge of Boolean search queries and experience with database analysis Participate in planning, integrating, managing, and reporting on the activities of the Technical Services Section as a whole to ensure the achievement of the section goals.

Plan, organize, and direct the cataloging workload and workflow for scanning existing paper-based archive to on-line database. Use expertise and knowledge to implement innovative methods and to ensure quality control and best practices.

Excellent oral and written communication skills which demonstrate the ability to convey and explain information effectively and to tactfully deal with diverse people, situations, and ideas.

Advanced proficiency in job-related software applications, e.g. Microsoft Office.

Current awareness of national trends and technological developments in one or more technical services areas, including the ability to introduce new ideas and implement changes
Experience with deployment of ECM systems
In depth knowledge of ECM systems like Share point, Opentext architecture, languages & development environments
Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of cataloging standards, database management and use of technology in a technical library environment, including but not limited to: OCLC, original cataloging, LC classification and cataloging web-based resources.
