PART-TIME REFERENCE LIBRARIAN/ LIBRARIAN TRAINEE
The Islip Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, service-oriented part-time Librarian I or Librarian Trainee for its
combined Adult Services and Teen Departments. Trainees looking for a positive mentoring experience are encouraged to apply. The position will entail 12-17 hours per week, depending upon availability, including one weekly evening shift and one monthly Saturday rotation.
JOB DUTIES:
Reference, research, and readers’ advisory services.
Participation in collection development.
Preparation of library displays and exhibits.
Assistance with development and execution of innovative adult and teen programming roster.
SKILLS:
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated interest and proficiency in technology.
Ability to work independently, follow through with projects, and meet deadlines.
Passion for customer service.
REQUIREMENT:
MLS degree from an ALA-accredited school and Public Librarian certificate or actively enrolled in an accredited
program for the Librarian Trainee position.
SALARY:
Minimum rate of $27.00 per hour for Librarian Trainees. Final salary dependent upon credits completed.
Minimum Librarian I rate of $33.00 per hour.
