JOB DESCRIPTION
The NYC Comptroller’s Office seeks an experienced records professional to serve as the Records Manager.
Records Manager will be responsible for the overall management, planning, and operation of the Agency’s
records management program. Reporting directly to the Associate General Counsel, with wide latitude to
exercise independent judgment, the Records Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the
following:
• Lead, plan, and manage all aspects of the Comptroller’s Office records management program, ensuring
efficiency and compliance with policy, in coordination with the Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”);
• Serve as technical expert on all records management issues; analyze methods and procedures
concerning records management; and plan and execute on detailed work plans for key initiatives;
• Lead the transformation of Agency’s records management processes to incorporate electronic records;
• Coordinate with Bureau Liaisons to ensure records creation, maintenance, use, and disposition are
in accordance with policy and promote effective records management practices agency-wide;
• Manage contracts relating to records management, including off-site storage and secure on-site
shredding services;
• Maintain off-site records database, attaching appropriate metadata to facilitate effective search and
retrieval;
• Supervise staff, including interns, assigned to records management projects;
• Train Comptroller’s Office employees on records management policy, including Bureau Liaisons and
new hires;
• Liaise with the NYC Department of Records, including attend citywide records manager meetings,
submit required reports, and implement best practices in accordance with city-wide policy;
• Develop Records Management reports, manuals, and presentations, as required; and,
• Perform special projects, as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. A master's degree from an accredited college in Library Science, Archival Science, American History
or Political Science or a related area, plus four years of full-time professional experience in a
governmental archive, records management center or library complex, 18 months of which must have
been in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive capacity; or,
2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have a master's
degree and the 18 months supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive
experience as described in "1" above
PREFERRED SKILLS IN ADDITION TO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Five years of experience developing and implementing policy and managing records in a complex
organization.
• Experience overseeing projects, from inception to completion, integrating electronic record
management systems with business operations.
• Familiarity with public documents and New York City history.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

The Graduate Center Library seeks an Adjunct Reference and Digital Outreach Librarian to work about 12 – 15 hours/week. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, research intensive environment – details on how to apply are below, as well as our contact information!
The position would begin immediately and continue through the Spring 2023 semester (1/25/23 to 5/31/23). Adjunct contracts are evaluated for renewal on a per semester basis. Hours are flexible based on availability, and will overlap with the in-person Reference Desk schedule (Monday – Friday 3pm-7pm). (Please note that we cannot accommodate hours outside of the Reference Desk schedule).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Staffing the in-person Reference Desk, and responding to in-depth research questions from doctoral and Master’s students, faculty, and CUNY affiliates. The librarian will additionally provide support for chat reference, via Springshare’s LibAnswers platform.
The role may also include teaching graduate-level research workshops, reviewing Open Educational Resources, and assisting with UX work on the Library’s website. Strong communication skills are essential, for writing and editing research guides, blog posts, and other public-facing content.
Qualifications:
All titles require a Master’s in Library Science (MLS), Master’s in Library Information Studies (MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution. For appointment as Assistant Professor, a second graduate degree is required. Also required are a strong public-service orientation and expertise with a wide range of library databases, the ability to learn quickly, work independently, meet deadlines, and apply critical thinking skills to library tools, systems, and problems.
Previous reference experience and experience with the LibAnswers chat service, along with a familiarity with CUNY are preferred. Facility with graduate level research questions, and a wide range of technologies including LibGuides, LibCal, LibAnswers, WordPress, Zotero, and GoogleDocs is ideal.

The User Experience and Emerging Technologies (UXET) Librarian identifies, implements, and assesses current and emerging technologies for the delivery of optimal, user-focused library services. The UXET Librarian is responsible for improving the usability of the Library’s web site, including tools for discovery, virtual reference, social networking, mobile services, and instructional technologies. The UXET Librarian plans staff and faculty development opportunities in order to build technology awareness and broadly supports the adoption of technologies that improve the user experience. The UXET Librarian has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrates the ability to interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff. As a member of the Reference and Instruction unit, this librarian participates in a broad range of reference, instructional services, and collection development responsibilities. The faculty lecturer, UXET librarian, is a full-time position that leads to a certificate of continuous employment. The User Experience and Emerging Technologies Librarian’s duties include:
Exploring emerging technological trends to improve the physical and virtual presence of the Library and making recommendations for adoption of appropriate technologies.
Building awareness and acceptance of implemented technologies.
Assessing the impact of technology-based services on Library users, including collecting and reporting usage statistics and other user input and data.
Evaluating and updating the Library’s website in conjunction with Reference colleagues and Academic IT.
Developing, updating, and maintaining the Library Libguides and social media presence.
Coordinating and implementing efforts to embed library resources and services in the college CMS (Blackboard).
Creating online tutorials, learning objects, widgets, apps and other products for the Library using emerging technologies to support information literacy.
Consulting on instructional design and occasional technical support for campus OER projects.
Serving as subject liaison for assigned academic departments including subject-specific reference and instruction, subject guides, and collection development for those disciplines.
Participating in regularly scheduled in person and virtual reference service, including evening and weekend work as needed.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Vaccine Mandate

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
Master’s degree in information and/or library science from an ALA-accredited school or an ALA-approved foreign equivalent.
Awareness of current issues and trends in information technology and public services.
Experience with usability studies and user feedback.
Demonstrated experience with web site development and online tutorial development, including familiarity with tools such as LibGuides, WordPress, Camtasia, etc.
Experience using course management systems and content management systems.
Familiarity with principles of reference, instruction, collection development, and faculty liaison programs in academic librarianship.
Preferred
Proficiency with programming applicable to web development.
Experience with relational databases and/or other development technologies.
Two years or more of professional experience in an academic library with a thorough understanding of academic user needs.

COMPENSATION
$69,983 – $83,764; Salary commensurate with experience and credentials.
