F/T - Librarian, Oceanside Library (NY)


Oceanside Library in Oceanside, NY is seeking a high-performing, enthusiastic, friendly and creative Librarian to join our team and work in our Adult Information/Reference Department. 
 
Duties include, but not limited to:
  • Provide assistance to patrons with technology devices: public computers, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, eReaders: Kindles, tablets, etc.
  • Provide general public desk duties, reader’s advisory, collection development and provide assistance with databases, eBooks and eAudiobooks.
  • Ordering and weeding library materials.
  • Assist patrons with registering for programs and reserving museum passes.
  • Developing and conducting new services and programs on and offsite/Community Outreach.
  • Responsible for overseeing and implementing the Adult Summer Reading Program.
  • Assist with scheduling.
  • Staying informed of new developments, technologies and services.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
·         MLS degree from an ALA accredited college or university.
·         NYS Librarians Certificate.
·         MUST be able to work a flexible schedule – daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
·         Willingness and ability to provide excellent customer service and hospitality.
·         Knowledge of SIERRA, Encore, EventKeeper, Apps and Social Media is a plus.
·         Strong collaboration skills and the ability to function individually and in a team environment.

Oceanside Library is an Association Library and is not subject to Civil Service requirements.
Oceanside Library is a member of the New York State Retirement System.  EOE.
