P/T - Reference Librarian, Elmont Library (NY)

Part-Time Reference Librarian Position, Elmont Public Library
 

We are seeking a dynamic, friendly and creative librarians to join our team! Candidates will be required to work 18 hours per week. Schedule will include day, evening, and weekend hours.

Responsibilities:
 Provide assistance to patrons at the adult services desk with reference and reader’s advisory services through print and electronic sources.
 Assist patrons with the use of electronic sources as well as digital devices.
 Assist with collection development.
 Plan and conduct book discussions and assist with other library programming.
 Provide excellent customer service to our patrons.
 Other projects as assigned.


Qualifications:
 MLS Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited institution.
 Library experience working in adult services is preferred.
 Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to form effective working relationships with staff and the public.
 Must be a Nassau County resident.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
 Excellent computer and organizational skills as related to library and library services.
 Comprehensive knowledge of databases and effective online searching.
 Knowledge of Sierra and Encore.
 Familiarity with Google Apps.
 Excels at providing great customer service in a fast-paced environment.
 Is energetic, motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible.
 Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
 Strong technology skills including new and emerging technologies.


Hourly Wage:
 $26.00/hour
 Sundays are paid at the rate of time and a half.
