applications for an Assistant Professor, Librarian in the Learning Commons area. The successful candidate will be appointed to a
full-time, tenure-track, 10-month faculty position.
Faculty librarians at Delaware County Community College are responsible for providing reference and research instruction to students, faculty, and staff. This includes staffing library reference according to departmental needs; providing individual, group, and classroom instruction; and developing supporting instructional materials. Faculty librarians participate in collection development for assigned subject areas/departments. In addition, the Cataloging Librarian will provide leadership for the creation, curation, and maintenance of cataloging and digital metadata. This librarian is responsible for cataloging for Library Services and overseeing the ILS (Sirsi). Perform original and copy cataloging in all formats.

Duties
Primary responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Reference: Provide reference and research instruction based on the staffing needs of the Learning Commons and Library Services. Instruct students, faculty, and staff in the general use of library materials in all available formats. Provide reference and research instruction in-person in the Learning Commons and virtually through chat and email. Create library-specific educational material including handouts, guides, and tutorials.
Instruction: Provide individual, group, and classroom information literacy and research instruction in all modalities, including course-integrated classes, online and in-person workshops, and other formats based on the staffing needs of the Learning Commons and Library Services. Create educational materials to support instructional activities.
Collection Development: Contribute to the collection development activities of the Learning Commons/Library Services. Work with assigned academic departments and other campus offices to identify, select, acquire, and ensure the availability of relevant and related materials. Set priorities for the assigned academic departments and other campus areas related to the Library's collection. Build and maintain the Library's collection in an evolving academic and scholarly environment.
Cataloging: This position is responsible for cataloging for the Library Services department. Perform original and copy cataloging in all formats. Proven working knowledge of cataloging tools and resources, and performing batch-loading of large vendor sets. Ability to use cataloging tools, such as Sirsi's SmartPort. Create, maintain, and update the library's cataloging, receiving, and processing workflows. Oversee quality control for the cataloging and processing of all library materials, while maintaining proper cataloging standards and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have:
- Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Minimum two years of experience in an academic library setting providing reference, instruction, and cataloging services.
- Ability to work with a diverse staff and community college constituency.
- Service-oriented, positive attitude, and good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team involved in the continual assessment of the library and its services, in order to create an environment that is engaging and approachable
- Ability to work independently under minimal direct supervision.
- Commitment to professional development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating and maintaining library's cataloging, receiving, and processing procedures.
- Experience with Sirsi BLUECloud and Symphony.
- Experience with Authority Control.
- Experience with data manipulation tools such as MarcEdit.
Supplemental Information
A contractual minimum starting salary of $59,608. (with a Master's degree) for tenure-track faculty and a comprehensive and competitive fringe benefit package are provided.
