Princeton University seeks a collaborative leader, innovative planner and manager for Assistant University Librarian for Research Services. Reporting to Associate University Librarian for Scholarly Collections & Research Services, this position takes the lead in shaping the Library's strategic directions for services & programs to support research & teaching: reference, research consultation, teaching, liaison, scholarly communication, research data management and UX, and assessment of these services. Engages directly with faculty & students; designs, implements, assesses user-focused services responding to a rapidly changing environment, supporting the Library's mission & vision and evolving teaching & research programs. Promotes Library services & initiatives to campus community; partners with stakeholders to implement best practices in research support, outreach & teaching. Pursues opportunities for collaborative service initiatives with library partnerships (e.g. IvyPlus, ReCAP). As head of Research Services Department, leads and supervises a large contingent of subject specialist selector & liaison librarians & staff in Social Sciences (incl 1 branch) & Sciences (incl 3 branches). Oversees hiring, mentoring, & professional development of Department's 45 staff. Contributes to campus-wide library projects & strategic planning; represents Princeton in relevant regional, national, & international organizations. Scholarly Collections & Research Services Division includes 3 Departments: Collection Development, Scholarly Collections Services, and Research Services. The Division's AUL with the Assistant University Librarians for these departments constitute the Scholarly Collections & Research Services Leadership Team overseeing all Division functions, providing support & synergy opportunities to staff within the Division and across the Library organization. Princeton University Library, one of the world's leading research libraries, has a dedicated, knowledgeable staff of 300 in a large central library, 9 specialized branches & 3 storage facilities. PUL supports a diverse community of 5200 undergrads, 2700 graduates, 1200 faculty, and many visiting scholars. Holdings include more than 7 million printed volumes, 5 million manuscripts, 2 million non-print items, and extensive collections of digital text, data & images. Further info: http://library.princeton.edu/ Required: ALA-accredited Master's degree in library/info science OR equivalent combination of education & professional library experience; Minimum 5yrs significant, progressively responsible professional work in research services & teaching support in an academic or research library, incl direct provision of services; Successfully supervising & developing professional & support staff in an academic setting; Demonstrated leadership of teams & projects in an academic research library; Ability to engage staff in development & delivery of user-centered services; Demonstrated understanding of the scholarly research lifecycle; Strong written & oral communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to collaborate with all stakeholders; Demonstrated success working with diverse groups of scholars & colleagues; Demonstrated ability to adapt & collaborate in a rapidly changing environment. Strongly Preferred: Advanced degree & teaching or research experience; Experience managing a branch library or library department; Familiarity with Scholarly Communication, Research Data Management, UX; Knowledge of assessment techniques & trends in academic libraries; Grant writing experience.
