Part-time Librarian I Position
The
Uniondale Library, in Uniondale, NY, is seeking a friendly and energetic librarian, who has
experience working with patrons of all ages, including traditional, media, and
digital services. This is a part-time (14
hours per week) position that includes daytime and evening hours, at least one Saturday
and one Sunday per month. This is a
non-competitive Civil Service position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø
Provide
assistance and library children, teens, and adults, teachers,
parents/caregivers, and other special populations in the community.
Ø
Conduct programs,
class visits, and outreach services.
Ø
Provide technology
assistance with computers, iPads, laptops, mobile devices, etc.
Ø Participate in the selection of library materials including
print and online sources.
Ø
Other projects and
tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø
Master’s Degree in
Library & Information Science from an ALA accredited program.
Ø
Must be a Nassau
County resident.
KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Ø Excellent customer service, presentation, and written
communication skills.
Ø Knowledge of Sierra & EventKeeper.
Ø Motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible.
Ø Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and to
think outside the box.
Ø
Proficiency in
Spanish, French, or Creole is a plus.
HOURLY WAGE
Ø Range: $24.00 - $28.00, depending on experience.
