FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Charles Evans Inniss Memorial Library at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks an enthusiastic, creative, and motivated professional for the position of Student Success Librarian. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the current technology and practices of a 21st Century Academic Library. The primary focus will be on student success in the practical context of the utilization of library resources. The individual will be involved in outreach across the college to foster overall student success.
The successful candidate shall participate in committee work, instructional programs, research support, collection development and will be responsible for:
Evening and weekend hours, and regular daytime hours during non-semester times. There will be flexibility required.
Collaborating with academic and non-academic student support departments and programs across the College. The candidate will represent the library at open houses and student orientation sessions.
Identifying and developing opportunities for partnerships, programs, and student outreach.
Working with and supporting faculty and courses, providing instruction and outreach as needed.
Reference and instruction (both online and in-person).
Teaching Information Literacy credit-bearing classes, and bibliographic instruction.
Excellent communication skills, including leading meetings, written reports, and oral presentations.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS), from an ALA-accredited institution. Experience working in an academic or public library.
Excellent communication skills, including leading meetings, written reports, oral presentations, and teaching.
Demonstrated knowledge of academic librarianship and pedagogy.
Strong service orientation
Positive and professional demeanor with diverse groups of students and colleagues.
Demonstrated commitment to student-centered social justice and equity.
Experience with the American Association of Colleges and Universities' high-impact practices.
Demonstrated ability in building community among undergraduate students.
Experience creating workshops and other programming.
COMPENSATION
Commesurate with education and experience
$67,684
