Full-Time Library Marketer
Darien Library (CT) seeks a creative, energetic, and enthusiastic candidate to join the User Experience Department. The Library Marketer will develop dynamic and timely content for a variety of digital and analog media outlets. They will plan, manage, and analyze the success of the Library’s publicity efforts.
The highly motivated, self-driven candidate will have a passion for connecting the right message to the right person at the right time, experience working in marketing for a non-profit, a desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and will join a collaborative inter-departmental working environment dedicated to improving the lives of patrons.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Design dynamic content that takes advantage of social media's unique capabilities.
- Write press releases, emails, and other publicity materials for the web and in print.
- Utilize the Library's resources to further enrich and inform audiences.
- Use project management techniques and tools to establish editorial calendars and workflows.
- Collaborate on projects within the department and with other internal and external groups.
- Use email marketing best practices to develop patron relationships.
- Set goals for marketing outreach and analyze the results to discuss with the supervisor.
- Establish procedures to secure press locally and at the national level.
- Monitor local and national trends in both librarianship and mainstream media.
- Promote inclusivity in marketing collateral and outreach to underserved groups.
- Maintain knowledge of social media platforms' capabilities and differing audience preferences.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to hospitality and customer service.
- Prior experience working in marketing.
- Experience in project management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Adaptable to changes within a quick-moving environment.
- Attention to detail and strong aptitude in written and oral communication.
- Ability to think creatively and take initiative when developing marketing strategies.
- Graphic design, video editing familiarity, and knowledge of design software are highly desirable.
- Proficiency with new and emerging technologies, as well as Microsoft Office, Adobe Applications, and Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Photography skills are highly desirable.
- Bilingual candidates, or those with functional knowledge of another language, are highly desirable.
Salary
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week) with an annual salary of $64,000 commensurate with experience. Salary includes generous vacation, sick, and personal leave; significant opportunities for professional development; health benefits; and enrollment in the Town pension program.
