Information Resources Manager
A top hedge fund based in New York, with offices in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo is seeking an Information Resources Manager (IRM) for its New York office. This is a full time position with an immediate start date. The IRM is part of the Research Services Department and reports to the Global Head of Market Data/Research Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Information and vendor management – approximately 85%
Identify and onboard information providers/vendors in response to the research needs of investment professionals. This entails analyzing information sources, comparing competing products, reviewing pricing structures, negotiating fees and contract terms, and developing a solid understanding of the information product and its corresponding terms of use.
Liaise between information providers and end users to assure there is a good fit. Work closely with counsel and compliance throughout the diligence and onboarding process.
Post-onboarding responsibilities include ensuring that end users have the appropriate access and training, documenting the final contract according to internal procedures, and processing invoices.
Manage vendor relationships throughout the term and serve as the point person internally for any questions about, or problems with, the vendor.
Manage renewals and/or cancelations including analyzing usage, reaching out to the vendor to learn of any product or pricing changes, conveying those changes to the end users and working with them to reach a consensus on the renewal and/or cancelation.
Facilitate access to sell side research for the NY office.
Basic research and training – approximately 15%
Train new hires on the company’s intranet.
Arrange training session with information providers as needed.
EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND
General
Research or vendor management experience preferably in a financial, corporate, or legal setting.
Experience selecting and using proprietary research services.
Experience with research resources like Factiva, LexisNexis, Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, Westlaw, Intelligize/Edgar.
Comfortable managing competing priorities and working in a fast-paced, global environment.
Ability to communicate confidently, effectively, and professionally with vendors, internal clients, and colleagues including Research and Research Services Department members globally.
Savvy internet research skills and creative approach to identifying information resources.
Technology
Facility with Microsoft Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.
Experience with SharePoint is helpful.
Experience with Market Data Management Systems such as FITS (The Roberts Group) or MDM (MDSL) is helpful.
Solid understanding of database design and electronic information retrieval.
Education
Master’s degree in Library Science required.
