Job Description

The Corporate & Investment Bank is a global leader across investment banking, wholesale payments, markets and securities services.  The Global Corporate Finance Operations (GCFO) team is a multi-functional global organization providing essential support services and solutions to the Investment Banking division of J.P. Morgan.  The Market Data Strategy team within the GCFO is responsible for building and maintaining a best-in-class portfolio of market data product access to support all aspects of the Investment Banking business.

Join our team as a Market Data Strategy Vice President within our Global Corporate Finance Operations (GCFO) team.  Reporting to the Market Data Strategy Director, you will be responsible for sourcing and selecting information services in support of Investment Banking (IB) deals and strategic initiatives.  You will act as a trusted advisor to IB management, providing expert recommendations for new data sources and opportunities for cost savings and transitions to alternative platforms. 

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Leverage deep understanding of the market data landscape and investment banking deal cycle, coverage areas and products to identify and select the best market data solutions for our bankers and technologists
  • Lead commercial negotiations with market data vendors and manage best-in-class suite of market data products as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team including bankers, research, technology, business management, Market Data Services, Global Supplier Services, Third Party Oversight & Legal
  • Continuously scan the landscape for emerging data products that can provide a competitive advantage to the firm
  • Provide advice and guidance to business leaders, bankers, researchers and technologists on the differences and nuances between market data products, enabling coverage, product and technology teams to efficiently and effectively access the right sources to support their work
  • Learning & Development - Advise bankers and researchers on new functionalities, content and tools in the JPM market data ecosystem; provide access to training to insure efficiency and successful adoption
  • Advise senior management on potential cost savings measures and lower cost alternative sources, guided by firmwide data initiatives, investment banking client management priorities and vendor relationship strategies 
  • Develop and showcase expense management dashboard and reporting to support business management agenda
  • Build strong relationships with vendors and industry leaders to insure understanding of new technologies, opportunities and industry trends, enabling JPM to strategically time launches of new products and technologies and to retain its edge in contract negotiations
  • Escalation point for vendor issue resolution, partnering with Supplier Services, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Accounts payable and vendor as required
  • Design and implementation of product trials, including scoping, goal setting, results collection and analysis and documentation of results

 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • 5+ years of experience as a user of research and market data tools like Factset, S&P Capital IQ, Dealogic, LSEG Workspace, Factiva, Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw, Pitchbook, Boardex, Euromonitor, Bureau Van Dijk or similar.
  • Experience with market data vendor management and contract negotiations
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree required, preferably in Library & Information Science or Business
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to distill complex concepts to a variety of audiences and levels – including to senior management, project contributors, technical and business facing partners. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Initiative-taking, energetic, results-oriented, curious and attention to detail. Exhibits a continuous improvement mindset towards all duties.

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Project management experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Good understanding of market data inventory systems, processes and procedures
  • Domain Knowledge in Investment Banking
  • Experience designing QlikSense dashboards

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Staff an active Reference Desk and Technology Help Desk.
  • Oversee activity in the adult Research, Magazine, and quiet study areas.

  • Assist patrons with print and digital resources.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of the Library’s electronic resources including databases and links from the Research page.
  • Assist patrons with computer hardware and software, including printers and scanners.
  • Provide Notary Public Services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • MLIS degree or a degree in progress at an ALA-accredited library sciences or information sciences graduate program.
  • Excellent customer service and reference skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts in simple, easy-to-understand terms.
  • Clear and direct oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to type quickly and accurately.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Multilingual candidates, or those with a functional knowledge of another language, are desirable.

 

Schedule

This is a part-time position with no benefits. The candidate will work at least 12-16 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and additional shifts as needed, not to exceed 29 hours per week.

 

Salary & Benefits

$20-$29.50 an hour, commensurate with experience and CLA minimum requirements.

Position Summary:

The Reference Archivist will be responsible for connecting library patrons with NYBG’s extensive collections and arranging and describing archival collections. This position will provide team reference desk coverage, assist with inquiries related to the archives, page materials for researchers, process archival collections and collaborate with colleagues to create innovative ways to broaden awareness of the collections. This position reports to the Manager of Public Services.

 

Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.

 

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage reference requests made via email, LibAnswers, appointments, and phone calls for the archives.
  • Arrange and describe archival collections of personal papers and organizational records, and prepare finding aids in accordance with local and national standards.
  • Assist patrons to locate materials and field inquires.
  • Manage imaging request for archival materials.
  • Increase the usability and discoverability of archive materials by creating research guides and finding aids.
  • Collaborate with the Public Services staff to integrate archival material and instruction into the library’s outreach efforts.
  • Maintain and use statistics.
  • Assist with creation and updating of policies as needed.
  • Page material to the reading room.
  • Serve on library and NYBG committees and other related committees.
  • Assist with library public events and departmental outreach.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

 

Qualifications:



  • Master’s degree from an ALA accredited library science program.
  • Archival certification or equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse public with varying levels of archival literacy.
  • At least 3 years of experience in providing reference services in an archive or research library setting.
  • Experience with Archives Space, LibApps, and a library ILS such as innovative Interfaces Sierra.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as analytical, time management and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills and willingness to take a leadership role in archive projects and decisions.
  • Archival collections processing experience.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to, at minimum, sit for extended periods; some retrieving and placement of collections is required. This would require the ability to remove archival boxes weighing up to 40 lbs from shelves, push fully loaded book carts, climb ladders, re-shelve boxes, and bend or stoop as necessary.

Baseline Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm

Overview
Special Collections Processing (SCP) is responsible for promoting discovery of NYPL special collections materials through the creation and publication of catalog records and collection guides and preparing material for storage and use. Special collections include analog and digital archives, rare books, manuscripts, photographs, designs, maps, and non-commercial sound and moving image recordings.  The unit also supports the acquisitions of special collections by making site visits to assist the curator in evaluating collections, and estimating time and costs associated with receiving and processing the material.

The role of the Audio and Moving Image Description unit of Special Collection Processing is to create initial item-level inventory description of audio and moving image (AMI) materials, process and arrange AMI based on format, content, and historical background, and create public description of AMI materials in catalog records and collection guides.

The Senior Audio and Moving Image Cataloger position is responsible for inventory description and original and complex copy cataloging of materials in all physical and born-digital audio and moving image formats, and creating and updating Library of Congress authorized headings for materials across NYPLs research collections. 

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Audio and Moving Image Description, the Librarian III will:

  • Create inventory records for physical and born-digital audio and moving image materials.
  • Conduct research and use audio and moving image format knowledge to make decisions regarding duplicates and multi-volume recordings.
  • Perform original and complex copy cataloging of audio and moving image materials in the English language, creating MARC21 records to full level cataloging standards.
  • Adhere to RDA guidelines and the Library of Congress standards and other national cataloging guidelines for audiovisual cataloging, such as AMIM, ARSC, DACS, and ISBD.
  • Create and update new LC/NACO authority records for agents and titles in support of all Audio and Moving Image Description bibliographic cataloging.
  • Supervise and advise AMI Description staff and other Special Collections Processing staff on issues related to NACO authorities.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Audio and Moving Image Description and other SCP staff on the development of internal procedural documentation and best practices, especially related to authority records creation and maintenance.

Required Education, Experience & Skills

Required Education & Certifications
  • ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library, archival, or information studies.
Required Experience
  • Minimum two years experience in MARC21 original and complex copy cataloging and demonstrated experience or training in the creation and maintenance of LC/NACO authority records.
Required Skills
  • LC/NACO authority records creation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of metadata content and value standards, especially RDA and Library of Congress Subject and Name headings.
  • Identification of audio and moving image formats, generation, and preliminary condition/preservation issues.
  • Proficiency with productivity software, especially spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Conduct research using NYPL research collections and other outside sources.
  • Ability to work independently, work within a defined time frame, problem solve, and prioritize cataloging tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in working tactfully with other library staff in a team setting.
Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise and advise AMI Description staff and other Special Collections Processing staff on issues related to NACO authorities.
