Drexel University Libraries, in Philadelphia, is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Information Assistance Librarian who will apply specialized knowledge and expertise in any of the theoretical, applied, physical or life sciences to providing personal guidance and client-customized consultation. The Librarian has subject expertise in information resources and tools, pedagogy and research, and collaboratively contributes to the Libraries’ matrixed programs of Curricula Support, Information Assistance and Scholarly Connections.
Requirements
Required
- ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library and information sciences
- Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in an information management organization
- Undergraduate degree, graduate coursework, and/or professional experience in any of the theoretical, applied, physical or life sciences
- Demonstrated knowledge of science information resources, tools, and scholarly trends
- Demonstrated knowledge of science pedagogy and current instructional techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong customer service orientation and commitment to inclusiveness of diverse ideas and perspectives
- Evidence of self-motivation to address new challenges, ability to solve problems with minimal supervision and commitment to learn new knowledge and skills
- Familiar with current and emerging technologies and trends in academic libraries and scholarly communications
- Excellent organizational skills, including time and project management
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; able to lead as well as execute and take constructive input from multiple sources
- Demonstrated involvement and contribution to the profession through service, presentations, or publications
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, inclusive and welcoming work environment in both physical and cyber spaces
Preferred
- Advanced degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, or Computer or Data Science
