DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Mastic Moriches Shirley library serves the William Floyd school district encompassing four towns: Mastic, Mastic Beach, Shirley, and Moriches with a combined population of about 55,000 residents. Recent demographic changes include an influx of recent immigrants, resulting in approximately 42-46% ESL enrollment in schools. Area workforce is primarily blue collar, retail management and service sector with the school district being the largest employer, followed by the library and Brookhaven town. Residents take pride in local history, with the town boasting several significant revolutionary war heroes. Access to nature is also highly valued, with two bay and an Ocean beach, a national wildlife refuge and a wooded county park all within the community and highly used. The library is in the middle of a significant expansion project that includes building 2 neighborhood branches and a complete remodeling of the main 40,000 Sq. ft. building scheduled for completion in 2024. Candidates may be scheduled at one of three locations or outdoors at community locations.

    Hunter College Libraries is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and growth oriented professional for the position of Research and Instruction Librarian. This is a twelve month, renewable, tenure-track appointment. The ideal candidate will be able to work across divisions in library services with a diverse array of talented students and colleagues. They will find interest in developing and sharing innovative approaches to librarianship and will share a commitment to participating in shared decision-making in committees across the Hunter libraries, Hunter College, and CUNY environments.

    Reporting to the Interim Chief Librarian, this librarian will be based at Hunter College’s main campus located on East 68th Street in Manhattan and will also support the libraries located at the 119th Street and East 25th Street campuses.     Reference & Instruction

    • Provide course-related and stand-alone instruction sessions for students and faculty within the library and through videoconferencing, including at least 10-15 sections in the Libraries course-related instruction program for English 120.
    • Provide reference assistance and research consultations for students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the library.
    • Maintain online research tools and create research aides that facilitate library usage, including library web pages and research guides.

    Research Services

    • Provide expert consultation and support for systematic search methodology.
    • Collect, maintain, and report statistics on consultation services for library, university, professional, and government reports and surveys.
    • Assess consultation services to determine and enhance the effectiveness of engagement with student and faculty research.

    Liaise

    • Serve as liaison to the departments of Psychology, and other departments as assigned.

    The Newman Library of Baruch College seeks an Assistant Professor to serve as Business Librarian as part of a team of information specialists who support the students and faculty of the Zicklin School of Business.  The successful candidate will:

      *   Engage in active outreach to the faculty of the Zicklin School of Business, including attending open faculty meetings, teaching information literacy and research sessions in courses, assessing collection needs, keeping the school informed about library resources and services, and anticipating information needs of faculty and students due to curriculum revisions.

    Position Summary

    The Frick Art Reference Library book collection consists of over 400,000 monographs, exhibition and collection catalogs, catalogues raisonnés; over 3,000 periodical titles; and over 90,000 auction catalogs from more than 1,000 auctions houses in Europe, Australia, and the Americas. Coverage includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, and prints by artists from Europe and the Americas created in the Western tradition from the fourth to the mid-twentieth century and European decorative arts from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century. Materials are collected in any format and in any language with approximately 6,000 new titles added to the collection annually.

    Reporting to the Associate Chief Librarian for Content, the Acquisitions Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of acquisitions and cataloging and supervises two full-time and two part-time staff.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversees daily operations of acquisitions, serials, and cataloging
    • Develops workflows and updates policies and procedures related to acquisitions and collection development
    • Supervises and trains staff, interns, and volunteers
    • Maintains Collection Development Policy
    • Evaluates collection resources and identifies areas of growth
    • Works with the Andrew W. Mellon Librarian and Associate Chief Librarian, Content, on major acquisitions
    • Reviews and maintains current approval plans
    • Manages acquisitions budget, compiles reports detailing acquisition spending by category, and works closely with accounts payable
    • Maintains vendor relationships and responds accordingly to acquisitions related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
    • Resolves issues with orders, renewals, invoicing, processing, claims, canceled orders, and records in the Library’s integrated library system
    • Oversees processing of gift accessions
    • Leads and serves as a member of interdepartmental working groups

    Requirements

    The education and/or experience requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.

    • Master’s degree in library or information science from an ALA-accredited program
    • Additional undergraduate and/or graduate degree in art history
    • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in acquisitions including supervisory experience
    • Experience in an academic or research library
    • Experience with integrated library systems, ExLibris Alma/Primo VE preferred
    • Knowledge of cataloging and metadata standards including MARC, BIBFRAME, and linked data principles
    • Experience with OCLC Connexion Client and copy cataloging in RDA
    • Reading knowledge of one or more languages in addition to English preferred

    Job Description

     
    The Department of Records & Information Services (DORIS) is seeking a highly responsible individual to serve as a Records Analyst in the Municipal Records Management Division (MRMD). DORIS is responsible for establishing and implementing City-wide records management policies and protocols. The Records Analyst will work closely with the Director and Deputy Director of Municipal Records Management to research records management (RM) best practices, analyze data, create reports, and assist in other MRMD operations and functions. 

    Key Responsibilities: Conducts various research projects on RM best practices and creates reports documenting findings. Survey’s city agencies regarding their technology programs, platforms, processes used for records management, archiving, digitization, and storage. Develops and maintains reports as required. Works with senior
    managers in gathering data and documentation of current RM practices. Assists with maintaining the records management database which contains agencies record retention schedules, accession projects and disposal applications. Works independently, with appropriate supervision, and exercises a high degree of judgment, tact, and initiative.

     
    Minimum Qualification Requirements

     
    1. A Master’s degree from an accredited college in Library Science, Archival Science, American History, Political Science, or a related area; or
    2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one year full-time professional experience in archival, records management or library work; or
    3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have the baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.

     
    Preferred Skills

     
    Experience creating and manipulating presentations including spreadsheet- based graphs and charts.

    Working knowledge of SharePoint.

    Basic understanding of records management practices and principles.

    Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word / Excel / PowerPoint).

    Ability to create accurate reports and presentations.

    Excellent organizational, communication and project management skills.
    Lifting is required

     
    Residency Requirement

     
    New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
