About the Team:

The WSJ Intelligence team is responsible for delivering best-in-class intelligence & insights to support The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, MarketWatch, Mansion Global & Investor's Business Daily. We tell compelling & clear narratives using original thought leadership, syndicated research studies & other secondary research. Team members act as experts in support of our advertising sales client partners, Product & Integrated Marketing teams, advertising clients & commercial partners.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Research Analyst with a preferred 1+ years of experience to join our team. You will manage day-to-day audience research requests and ad effectiveness studies. You will use resources like Ipsos, Erdos Media, Factiva, Qualtrics, Research & Analysis of Media (RAM) and proprietary research studies to provide concise, data-driven narratives for sales and marketing stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a grasp of syndicated research sources (such as Ipsos or MRI) and a keen interest in the financial services sector to help differentiate our brand's market position.

You Will:

  • Manage day-to-day audience research requests for WSJ | BG brands from stakeholders, providing accurate & concise analysis of various data sets in service of our sales and marketing initiatives.

  • Effectively understand and interpret all available syndicated research sources, in service of enhancing our sales process, synthesizing these insights to internal stakeholders including integrated marketing, product strategy & sales leads.

  • Mine Factiva, Statista, and other available sources to uncover topical third-party research and insights.

  • Manage day-to-day aspects of multi-platform ad effectiveness studies, from set up & execution to interpreting & delivering results.

  • In conjunction with their manager, develop, program & analyze proprietary research studies using Qualtrics platform, as well as develop & present narratives to key stakeholders.

  • Build strong relationships across the organization with internal stakeholders.

You Have:

  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Word, and especially Excel, as well as Google's suite of tools including Sheets and Slides.

  • Experience in New Age, Qualtrics, Adobe Analytics preferred.

  • Exposure to various quantitative research methodologies, multi-platform advertising effectiveness initiatives & syndicated research studies e.g. Ipsos Affluent, MRI, Comscore, Research & Analysis of Media (RAM) & Erdos & Morgan preferred.

  • Interest in the financial services sector.

  • 1+ year experience. Bachelor degree preferred but not required.

Union role

Base Pay Range: $60,000 - $75,000

General Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Research & Competitive Intelligence, the Analyst will join a high-performance team responsible for delivering rigorous, high-impact research and analysis on companies, industries, markets and competitors. The Analyst role requires a strong degree of attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and creativity in leveraging a broad range of resources, including artificial intelligence, to develop insightful, actionable intelligence and meaningful recommendations that support the firm’s competitive position. Successful candidates will take ownership of their work, proactively identify opportunities to add value, and operate with a strong sense of accountability. The Analyst must be effective working both collaboratively within a team environment and independently in a results-driven setting.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Conduct in-depth research and analysis on companies, competitors, industries and legal trends, with a particular focus on corporate, litigation and restructuring practices, to support the firm’s business development, strategic, and client-facing initiatives.
2. Monitor and synthesize critical news, market activity, trends, and intelligence affecting the firm, key clients and industries, proactively identifying developments relevant to business development priorities.
3. Produce consistently high-quality, well-structured, and analytically rigorous reports and deliverables that meet exacting standards for accuracy, clarity and professional presentation.
4. Track and maintain metrics for team request management.
5. Perform special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.


Experience / Education
Requires advanced degree or some equivalent of education and experience with focus on market analysis or financial services research and a minimum of 2-5 years of business/competitive intelligence research experience. A knowledge of legal research would be a plus.


Skills and Competencies:

1. Highly tuned research and analysis skills, with ability to analyze data and draw conclusions and to provide actionable intelligence. Strong understanding of the legal industry and the business environment impacting our clients, is highly recommended.
2. Exceptional and professional written, oral communication and customer service skills.
3. Demonstrated ability to synthesize and distill information from diverse sources and deliver objective, meaningful insights in concise, compelling ways.
4. Solid ability working with financial/business, legal/litigation and industry-specific databases (including Bloomberg, CapitalIQ and LSEG Workspace) and Microsoft products, especially Excel. Experience with using artificial intelligence for CI work, including the prompt and context engineering, would be an asset.
5. Thorough knowledge of M&A and private equity transactions and the ability to differentiate between multiple deal types and strategies.
6. Ability to work well with staff at all levels of the firm, as well as handle an array of projects, many under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations.
7. Takes a proactive approach to assignments and demonstrates the ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently, with a flexibility and willingness to work extended hours as required.
8. Strong sense of urgency, intellectual curiosity and professional dedication, as well as a positive
attitude, are expected.


Work Requirements: Attendance Requirements: T

We are the heart of a community where our patrons can come for accessible books and texts, cultural programs, learning, and all things that connect people to Judaism, culture, and community. We strive to remove barriers to accessibility and inclusion, so that everyone can read, learn, and engage, both with JBI and their local Jewish community—independently and with dignity.


Role Overview 


The Patron Services and Programming Librarian at JBI Library is responsible for providing excellent customer service by telephone and email to our community members (50%), outreach, communications, and programming (30%), and cataloging and collection promotion (20%). Additionally, the role includes administrative duties such as maintaining records, preparing reports, and assisting with budget planning and grant applications. The librarian will work with the outreach team, operations department, production department, and other library staff members, and will be supervised by the Head Librarian.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patron Services:
    • Provide excellent customer service to library patrons, assisting with reference and referral inquiries through telephone and email interactions, locating materials, and using library resources. 
    • Conduct building tours, orientations, and instructional sessions (in-person and virtual) to help patrons make the most of library services. 
    • Assist patrons with digital resources and basic technology guidance. 
    • Along with others, design and manage patron programs and events, both in person and virtual, to enhance the patrons’ experiences and to support our goal of connecting patrons to Jewish life. 

  • Community Engagement:
    • Support patron groups and volunteer projects 
    • Work on our in-person outreach, including developing partnerships with local organizations 
    • Along with others, promote the library’s collections and services through social media, newsletters, catalogs, and other communication channels. 

  • Programs
    • Plan monthly programs across JBI Library’s Jewish learning, Culture & Arts, Community Chats, & Book Clubs series 
    • Identify volunteer and paid program facilitators, coordinate lesson plans and accessible materials needed 

  • Collection Management:
    • In cooperation with the head librarian, develop and maintain the library’s collection, including books, digital resources, and other materials. 
    • Conduct regular assessments of community interests to ensure we are meeting their needs 
    • Work on the cataloging and classification of library materials and the creation of genre catalogs and pathfinders
    • Maintain accurate records of library transactions and inventory. 
    • Enter and maintain patron and item records in our ILS database, place book orders in the system, run reports, and find efficiencies. 
    • Assist with cataloging and classification of library materials as needed to support the library

  • Outreach & Communications 
    • Communicate regularly with patrons to register them for programs via phone or email, and address inquiries 
    • Create the FYI, Individual Patron, Organizational Patron, and Voices content with the Head librarian

 

Required Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in library science required.
  • (Candidates in their final semester of a Library Science Masters program will also be considered.)
  • Strong customer service skills and experience working with the public.
  • Experience in collection management or cataloging.
  • Strong writing and oral communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for books, promoting literacy, lifelong learning, and community engagement.
  • Proficiency with an Integrated Library System, MS Office, and digital resources.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of trends in library services and technology.

 

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Professional librarian experience or internship
  • Experience working with individuals who are older or who are blind, or have low vision or print disabilities.
  • Knowledge of disability culture and assistive technology
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, literature, and/or liturgy
  • Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian proficiency a bonus

 

The salary range is $62,000-$70,000. The position also offers an attractive benefits package.  The regular hours are 8:45 a.m.– 6:00 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays and in person (a 35-hour work week is standard). Occasional travel required. This position is open until filled. This is an exempt position.
