Part-Time Adult Services Librarian
Locust Valley Library, in Locust Valley, NY on Long Island, is seeking a part-time Adult Services Librarian to join our team. They are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, brings a strong public service mindset, and is excited to help shape adult engagement through reference, readers’ advisory, programs, and book clubs.
This position includes regular evening and weekend hours, with additional flexibility preferred for coverage as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and responsive reference and readers’ advisory service
- Assist patrons with computers, printers, online resources, and digital tools
- Help create, support, and oversee adult book clubs, programs, and related initiatives
- Support adult collections, displays, and other public service efforts
- Serve as Librarian-in-Charge during assigned evening and weekend shifts
- Help support the smooth day-to-day operation of the library
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited program
- New York State Public Librarian’s Certificate
- Strong public service, communication, and technology skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience using library technologies and online tools to support patrons preferred
Compensation
Starting at $28.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
