P/T - Temporary Cataloger, The Met (NY)

The Thomas J. Watson Library at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking a part-time temporary cataloger to complete a library cataloging project.

Under the supervision of Watson Library's Cataloging Team, this position will work in Sierra (our ILS) and Connexion Client to perform complex copy cataloging, processing and labeling of a large gift of books on Modern and Contemporary art.
This project will begin in September 2026, fully onsite, with a flexible schedule 2 days (max 14 hours) per week, and must be completed by May 2027. The pay is $45/hour.
The ideal candidate will have 2 years experience copy cataloging, working in an ILS (preferably Sierra), and a demonstrated ability to work independently with supervision once trained. Email john.lindaman@metmuseum.org with “temporary project cataloging position” as the subject line (so that it goes to the correct inbox); attach a cover letter explaining your interest and qualifications and a copy of your CV. We will conduct Zoom interviews beginning next week, with a goal of starting the project mid-September.
