F/T - Access Svcs Coordinator, Hunter College (NY)

The Access Services Coordinator at Hunter College Libraries supports the mission and vision of the Libraries by maintaining destinations where visitors can connect to services, programs, and/or materials in ways that meet their needs. The Access Services Coordinator provides a consistent quality of customer experience in core library services on the phone, in person and/or on the web. Supervises staff under their area of responsibility. Supervises access to resources, including the physical and virtual resources of the system. The Access Services Coordinator reports to the Interim Chief Librarian.

CUSTOMER SERVICE :

-Coordinates access and maintenance of library resources, including physical and virtual, so that residents have equitable opportunities to use the library facilities and resources.

  • Assists in planning and implementing quality assurance methods in the libraries.

-Assesses customer needs through discussion with patrons; make recommendations about effective use of department resources and services to meet customer needs.

-Builds and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, other employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

-Collaborates with IT support staff, librarians and other staff members to assist in developing information service strategies and initiatives that maintain a high level of patron satisfaction with on-site and digital technology resources.

LIBRARY SERVICE:

-Participates in department governance and other policy-setting activities.

-Collaborates with personnel across service areas to accomplish goals and objectives.

-Exercises individual judgement to resolve service issues at point of need.

-Applies input from community for implementing services.

-Maintains current knowledge of trends in libraries and related fields to suggest new services for development and implementation system-wide.

FISCAL and MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

-Assist in budget priorities regarding assigned area; prepare budget reports; administer, coordinate, monitor and control expenditures and budget for collection development, programs, marketing and advertising.

-Supervises and trains lower level staff, student employees, volunteers, and/or interns, as appropriate.

  • Makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting personnel, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraisals, and taking corrective action.

-Conducts routine assessments of an employee's performance in area of responsibility and communicates short and long-term goals and objectives.

-Instructs and advises as appropriate, and resolves problems as non-routine situations arise.

-Collects and maintains personnel records and reports as required by the Chief Librarian.

-Interprets, applies and explains Library procedures and policies as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree is required.

Vaccine Requirement:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience within approved salary range: of $43,520 - $73,638.
