Our Division

Corporate Services provides best-in-class commercial services for the Firm and our employees to enable productivity, efficiency and an enhanced employee experience. We deliver standardized services which can be scaled globally and delivered locally. We have over 400 employees supported by more than 5,500 vendor staff managing a multi-billion dollar scope of services including Real Estate Services, Property Management; Corporate Travel & Meetings Management and Corporate Information Management; Corporate Security & Investigations; and Office of the COO. These services are delivered across 30+ countries in the Americas, EMEA and Asia regions.

 

The Business Information and Analytics (BIA) team connects people with information to create capital through five main service offerings: Research; Data & Analytics; Product Advisory; Citations; and Translations. We use our deep industry knowledge and expertise to deliver robust research material and exemplary advisory services to fulfill the information needs of our internal clients in Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, Research, Investment Management, etc. We are trusted advisors and subject matter experts who understand the complexity of the clients’ requests and collaborate with them on how best to present the data and information they need.

In this role on the Business Information and Analytics (BIA) team, you will report directly to the Regional Head of BIA in NY and manage the research for the North American Financial Institutions Group (FIG) sector.

 

You will provide high value, research and actionable insights/deliverables as a FIG sector specialist, supporting internal clients in Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, Research, Investment Management, etc. primarily in North America. Candidates with experience in data analytics or leveraging technology to improve business processes will also find opportunities to develop and promote the next generation of information services and analytics.

You Will:

-Conduct comprehensive and accurate market research through third party vendors to inform the decision making of internal clients. Research typically focuses on North American clients and companies but also supports the global network of Morgan Stanley offices

-Collaborate with local and global colleagues to deliver actionable insights and share knowledge of resources across the sector team

-Manage a portfolio of information products, including assessing and recommending appropriate products based on content, value and business trends

-Identify and leverage opportunities for BIA to support information gathering and processing needs of clients through new or existing service lines

-Maintain a heightened awareness of compliance and client confidentiality obligations

-Provide training for new hires and educate clients on the industry, as well as new and available sources of information

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate these core competencies:

-Execution: You are self-motivated with a strong ability to multi-task and take initiative on new projects and work independently towards business goals with minimal supervision

-Business acumen: You are proactive in monitoring client and Firm business activities to understand and anticipate information requirements

-Commercial Impact: You can effectively review the information portfolio for displacement opportunities and cost savings/efficiencies

 

To be successful in this role, you will have these skills or knowledge:

-Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in an information management or sector research role (any previous general research experience could be applicable)

-Effective organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deliverable deadlines

-Client-focused with ability to anticipate needs, address clients’ expectations and cooperate to achieve objectives

-Strong oral and written communication skills, able to synthesize large volumes of information and clearly articulate complex ideas

 

What’s Preferred for this Role

To give you an extra boost, you will:

-Be proficient with online and database research, including familiarity with a variety of industry-specific market research databases such as EIKON, CapitalIQ, and Bloomberg

-Have knowledge of capital markets and understanding of financial institutions

-Stand out if you have experience working with SDC (Eikon Deals data) and/or Dealogic

-Have experience managing external information and market research suppliers, market data or business process outsourcing (BPO) partners
