Instruction Assessment Associate, NYU (NY)

 

Position Summary

The Division of Libraries at New York University (NYU) seeks an Instruction Assessment Associate in the Undergraduate and Instructional Services department to provide a variety of reference and instructional services to library patrons, support calendaring and scheduling, as well as assist instruction assessment practices in the Division of Libraries. The person in this position would conduct library tours, information literacy classes, and library research consultations for students and scholars. They would assist the UIS department in facilitating and assessing its instruction service and programs, adhering to core concepts, such as critical pedagogies and professional standards (e.g., ACRL framework) by conducting assessment projects, contributing to the community of practice efforts, and providing assistance with other instructional assessment strategies. The Instruction Assessment Associate will facilitate scheduling calendars and support for core instruction programs using project management tools and/or templated spreadsheets. The Instruction Assessment Associate would also participate in the development and delivery of instruction and reference, as well as committee work, that supports the Division of Libraries' values of inclusion, diversity, equity, belonging, and accessibility. Evening and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree

Required Experience:
2+ years Experience in reference, library instruction or teaching, or coursework, or other relevant comparable experience.

Preferred Experience:
2+ years Two years’ experience or coursework in a library setting, especially an academic public services unit. Familiarity with research methods in the humanities or social sciences. Customer service/public service experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, research, and oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and patrons. Knowledge of online research resources and databases. Familiarity with standard office software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel spreadsheets, and/or Adobe Acrobat.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong interest or knowledge of assessment in library instruction, work with assessment/survey tools (e.g., Google Forms, Qualtrics), scheduling coordination, and critical concepts in teaching.
