P/T - Community Engagement Lib, Bethpage Lib (NY)

 Part-Time Community Engagement Librarian Position Available in the Reference Department

The Bethpage Public Library is seeking a part-time Community Engagement Librarian to represent the
library at community events and manage our social media accounts. Ideal candidates will be friendly,
organized, dependable, flexible, and a team player. Must be well-versed in Facebook, Twitter, and
Instagram; knowledge of TikTok a plus. This positon will also include shifts at the Adult Reference Desk. Additional projects as assigned.
 
This is a Non-Competitive Civil Service position. You do not need to be on a Civil Service list, and you will not be removed from any Civil Service list.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to
 
Attend and represent the Library at community meetings and events.
Collaborate with Head of Reference and Graphic Designer to manage social media accounts.
Schedule posts and create content for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Create and manage brand-new TikTok account.
Provide Reference services, including technology assistance, at the Adult Reference desk.
Other projects, as assigned.
 
Qualifications: MLS Degree from an ALA-accredited program. Current NYS Professional Librarian
Certificate.
 
Hours: Fridays 9 AM 5 PM, with additional shifts based on scheduled community events and library
programming. Fill-in hours available on an as-need basis. Up to 17 hours per week. 
 
Salary: $27.00 - $27.50 per hour 
 
Benefits: Part-Time employees are eligible to participate in the New York State Retirement System, as
well as an additional 403B plan. PTO granted after one year of service.
