FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The A. Philip Randolph Memorial Library at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) seeks an enthusiastic, creative, and motivated professional for the position of Student Success Librarian. The ideal candidate will be someone who is looking to grow their skills in community building, interested in helping us develop innovative approaches in addressing the needs of students, particularly in online learning environments, who shares the Library’s commitment to social justice and inclusive pedagogy, who is equity-minded, who is committed to student success, and who is able to work successfully in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with various student support departments and programs across the College, including Student Affairs, Career Services, Counseling, and other non-academic cohort programs such as Panther Partners, Connexiones, and peer-advisors. In addition, they will work on building a Library Ambassador program which will employ work study students who will provide necessary services in the Library but also participate in leadership and other skill building programming. Reference and instruction (both online and in-person) and collection development will also be required.

Along with position specific responsibilities listed, the successful candidate participates in instructional programs, research support, and collection development. An active scholarly agenda, and participation in college-and university-wide programs and committees as assigned are required for tenure and promotion. A second master’s degree is required for appointment as tenure-track Assistant Professor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have earned a Master’s in Library Science (MLS) or Master’s in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent accreditation if degree is from outside the U.S.
Experience working in an academic or public library.
Demonstrated knowledge of trauma informed librarianship and pedagogy.
Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated cross-cultural competency in communications with diverse groups of students and colleagues.
Must have a strong service orientation, and the ability to interact positively with students and colleagues in the Library, the College, and the University.
Demonstrated commitment to participating in and building an inclusive, equitable and diverse campus community.
Evidence of ability to engage in research, publication, and service consonant with the guidelines for tenure and promotion.
Preferred Demonstrated ability in building community among undergraduate students. Experience creating online tutorials and workshops. Familiarity with culturally responsive pedagogy.
Instructor:
Along with position specific responsibilities listed above, the successful candidate participates in instructional programs, research support, and collection development. If appointed as Instructor, the candidate will be expected to complete an additional graduate degree within 5 years (CUNY tuition remission is available).
For appointment as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, a second graduate degree is required.
COMPENSATION
Salary: $42,261 - $85,162
