Information Specialist - Mergers & Acquisitions

       Provide legal and business research for requests that are often confidential and time sensitive in nature to the Corporate and Merger & Acquisition groups of a leading international law firm.  In addition to providing research the duties of the position include but are not limited to assisting with maintaining corporate files (data inputting, indexing and filing); monitoring current publications both online and in print and appraising attorneys of developments in the field on a daily basis.  There will be extensive use of a number of internal databases, online resources and the internet.
       The Information Specialist is expected to be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, and equally well as part of a team.  The information specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Research Services.

Requirements
a.  Technical Skills:  experience with Word, Lotus Notes, Excel, PowerPoint  and Microsoft Access.
    Legal and Financial Database skills: competent in using Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, Knowledge Mosaic as well as other Securities & Exchange Commission and EDGAR filing resources.
       
b.   A minimum of three (3) years of law firm or related corporate experience.  Master's Degree in Library/Information Science preferred.

Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some overtime

Job Description: Document Delivery Services and User Services
-          Primarily supports Document Delivery Services (DDS), performing a variety of tasks depending on client request volume and priorities. Tasks may include electronic request processing, scanning documents, and reshelving books or journals.
-          Acts as a User Services team member, providing consultation services at the Information Kiosks at either of the MSKCC Library locations, answering in-person directional questions, as well as queries received by email or phone. Escalates research questions and in-depth searches to the reference staff. Records client interactions.
-          Shares desk shift coverage responsibilities with other staff, which may include opening or closing one of the Library’s two locations. May sometimes be asked to cover the front desk independently during all-staff meetings or during part of an evening shift.
-          Assists and provides support regarding the online catalog (Tri-Cat), Library Web site, eResources and print collection.
-          As opportunities arise, may assist the Reference team with the development of library guides and training materials, bibliographies and current awareness searches, as well as completing special projects as assigned.

Required and Preferred Qualifications: Must be enrolled or in process of completing an MLIS program from an ALA accredited institution, demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, excellent oral and written communication skills, outgoing personality with a desire to provide excellent customer service, adaptable to a changing work environment and departmental priorities, and familiar with any or all of the following: electronic publishing, licensing, cataloging, metadata standards, link resolver technology, and database management skills.
Experience with WorldCat, integrated library systems (particularly Innovative Millennium), link resolver technology (particularly SFX), copy cataloging using OCLC Connexion, document delivery using ILLiad and Ariel, as well as proficiency searching databases a plus.
Hours:  To be determined based on student schedule and staffing needs. 12-15 hours a week. No weekend hours. Availability in the evenings is a plus.
Pay: Hourly rate is very competitive and based on relevant experience and qualifications.

SENIOR ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE, SECONDARY ANALYTICS
 
Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide is looking to retain a Senior Account Executive in secondary analytics who will report in to the EVP and the Senior Information Specialist of the Insights and Research group.
 
The Senior Account Executive will work closely with the OPR InfoServices team to support the secondary research and media analysis needs for Ogilvy PR, including:
  • Conducting secondary research for Ogilvy PR account teams seeking environmental intelligence to support client work and new business initiatives. This includes searching public and syndicated databases such as MRI, Bloomberg, Factiva and Nexis and writing up findings and working in conjunction with members of a larger team.
  • Secondary data research, analysis and reporting includes:
    • Locating, analyzing and reporting on data from a variety of secondary research sources and databases to inform new business pitches and on-going account needs.
    • Deliverables will range from emails to fully developed presentations.
    • Engaging with various account teams and managing vendor contracts.
    • Familiarity with research and media monitoring sources, such as:
      • Media/Digital: Nexis, Factiva, Dialog, Bloomberg, TVEyes, Radian6
      • Syndicated/Trend Sources: Forrester, Iconoculture, Roper, Datamonitor, MRI, Yankelovich
      • Analyst/Business reports: Global Business Browser, Thomson ONE First Call, Apollo
  • Will be trained to work with account teams and third-party research vendors on media monitoring and measurement:
    • This will include traditional and social media evaluation.
    • Provide counsel to account teams on Factiva search criteria, taking on interim reporting, evaluating and engaging vendors for major projects, and outsourcing and managing larger scale global initiatives through firms like CARMA, Cision, Empower, etc.
  • Specialized writing and presentation skills: Using secondary and media analysis to develop literature reviews or white papers for specific account needs. Experience developing targeted PowerPoint presentations.
  • Providing support to the group as a whole, including maintaining subscriptions, submitting purchase orders, scheduling meetings and proofreading documents.
 
The position requires a minimum college degree in a relevant subject (marketing, marketing research, library sciences), with a graduate degree preferred. The candidate should have 1-2 years experience in syndicated and secondary research. Experience in research specifically to support Public Relations is preferred. The candidate should exhibit the ability to work independently, as well as closely with a variety of account teams across a full range of practice groups. The position is from 9:00am - 6pm, weekdays.
